The return of the Elf on the Shelf

Last year we had a lot of fun counting down to Christmas with the Elf on the Shelf. I know he's not for everybody, and I don't expect that he'll make any more appearances on the blog this year, but as he's become a part of our Christmas tradition I wanted to record it.

Last year we named the elf  'Elfiegoy' which always was a bit of a random name, so I'm quite pleased that Harry has decided to rename him 'Chippy'. Chippy is the name of the elf in the short film that goes alongside the elf tradition and Harry loves watching it, it helped introduce the idea to him in the first place.

Our elf isn't a naughty elf like some of them are. If the idea is that children behave nicely when the elf is watching them, then I don't want the elf to be doing naughty things! To be honest they are thrilled when he just changes his position around the house, but I'll probably be a bit more imaginative and have him playing with their toys and so on.

We built up his return this year by getting the children to write him a letter and draw him a picture to take home with him. So sweet!

Letters from children to the Elf on the Shelf

He arrived on Sunday, appearing on the doorstep all wrapped up in his box. I'm looking forward to coming up with some new ideas for his adventures!
